Ethereum Network Growth Hits All-Time High, Spurred by Fusaka Upgrade

The Ethereum network is experiencing a historic surge in user adoption, with new wallet creation reaching all-time high levels in the past week.

According to on-chain data from Santiment, an average of 327,100 new Ethereum wallets were created each day over the past week. This culminated in a record-breaking Sunday, which saw 393,600 new wallets created in a single day.

This unprecedented growth is attributed to several key factors, most notably the Fusaka upgrade that was deployed in early December 2025. The upgrade significantly improved how data is handled on the Ethereum chain, drastically cutting the cost of posting information from Layer-2 networks back to the mainnet. This has resulted in lower fees and a smoother user experience, encouraging a wave of new users to join the ecosystem.

Other contributing factors include:

The surge in new wallets, driven by lower fees and increased utility, points to a rapidly expanding user base and a strengthening network effect for Ethereum as it heads into 2026.
